Imagine a podcast that talks about everything someone should tell you about running a business, but probably won’t…
Welcome to Running in the Dark, a podcast about business, not running.
Why Running in the Dark?
Because running a business is like running in the dark; it felt like a great idea when you started; you aren’t 100% sure where you are going, but you’re definitely going to keep running…
Running in the Dark is a compilation of all the lessons I’ve learnt along my business journey, in the hopes that they will help new and future entrepreneurs avoid common traps and pitfalls.
I started my first business, Oh So Social, in 2014, which was one of the first marketing agencies that focused solely on social media. Since then, I’ve grown my business, taken on more staff, had some great successes, some very painful failures and even created a few more ventures along the way.
What does this mean? It means I know what it’s really like to be a business owner, and one thing is for sure; I wish someone had warned me what it’s really like.
Join me as I talk about all the things I wish I knew before I started; things I never thought I’d know, and things I still don’t know. I’ll be dropping the bravado and giving you the honest guide about being an entrepreneur.
Special Episodes
I live and work with a chronic illness, and I used to think I was pretty alone in this, but I was wrong.
During two special episodes of Season One, we interview business people with “health stuff.”
I went first, talking about running the agency with Sjogren's Syndrome (now Sjogren's Disease), before I had the privilege of interviewing Lyssa-Fêe Crump, who talked about mastering her career despite health challenges.
Due to the success of these episodes, we will be back with more interviews in Season Two.
Season One
In Season One, I share the most valuable lessons I’ve learnt in over 10 years of running a business. Some of these lessons are painful, some are wonderful, but they are all honest and talk about what it’s really like to run a start-up business.
